Rattlin’ Bog Dances
Dance #1: Longwise set facing partner.
Ho! Ro! The rattlin’ bog (take 3 steps to the center, clap on 4)
The bog down in the valley-o. (take 3 steps back, clap on 4)
Repeat.
Assign verses to couples. One couple for tree, limb, branch, twig, etc. (double up if you have more dancers than verses) Partners swing beginning on their key word and keep swinging until “and the bog down in the valley-o.”
If you aren’t swinging, clap to the beat.
Dance #2: Partners in scattered formation or longwise set.
Ho! Ro! The rattlin’ bog (take 3 steps to the center, clap on 4)
The bog down in the valley-o. (take 3 steps back, clap on 4)
Repeat.
For the beginning of EVERY verse:
Now in that ? there was a ?
Pat, pat, pat (own legs) Partner pat, pat pat.
a rare ? a rattlin’ ?
Pat, pat, pat (own legs) Partner pat, pat pat.
Partner swing on the cumulative part. (so for the later verses, a LONG time)
Keep swinging until “and the bog down in the valley-o.”
