All of my students sang America, The Beautiful every year in class and at our Veterans Day Program. Here is my spiraled curriculum for K-5.
- Grades 4 and 5 began with a review of the song, history, and lyrics in a PPT presentation.
- Grade 5 played the chords on ukulele or Boomwhackers.
- Grade 4 used a lyric template and drew pictures of what the lyrics represented to them.
- Grades 2-3 watched the PPT presentation and then used the individual drawings created by fourth grade to track and learn the lyrics and song.
- Kindergarten-Grade 1 used a giant chart created from the drawings of the fourth graders.
